Reproductions of Giant Cyanotpyes for Artist Ffion Nolwen Roberts
I was delighted to be asked to work on a set of 5 Cyanotypes for Fine Artist, Ffion Nolwen Roberts.
It was certainly a challenge to get the Image Captures perfect for these 'giant' pieces. Each piece is approx 1500mm x 3000mm!! Paper selection was easy for these pieces as our 300gsm Siriol Fine Art Smooth stock suited the original paper beautifully.
Ffion now has a selection of smaller reproduction prints from the originals, that she is selling as prints. http://ffionnolwenn.weebly.com/index.html
Here's what Ffion says about the original pieces:
" I find that there is something particularly poetic
about a nymph turning itself into a dragonfly. This crawling, dark creature
emerges into an elegant, free being.
Transformation is constant, and all around us. Using the
cyanotype process allows me to experiment with these ideas. The alchemy of
light, shadow, water and matter all play important roles during this method.
The physical involvement carried out during the making of a piece is also
fundamental. I am directly involved in the making, from mixing the chemicals,
painting the liquid onto the surface, to placing myself onto the chemically
altered paper."
